A Journey around the hotspots in the City of Visakhapatnam

We went to Visakhapatnam on 8 th  April 2016 and on reaching the city we relaxed at the rented house where my father was residing, a few years before, he actually got retired and came back home. After a quick rest, we went to Simhachalam Temple which is 9km from the city center and the temple is an ornate shrine that is revered to be one of the most important temples in the region. The edifice is perched atop a hill 800 meters above sea level and is dedicated to Lord Narasimha, who is an incarnation of Vishnu himself. The temple is embellished with extremely detailed stone carvings and designs that can be stopped from a distance only. Also, this is said to be the only temple in the country where Shri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swami appeared. The temple has detailed prayer routines for all days and it is a treasure of traditional Vaishnavite culture. Interestingly, the state of the deity appears in its true form only for 12 hours per year on the day of Akshaya Tritiya and on any othe...

A live Seafood Restaurant over the ECR – Thoondil Restaurant

I love seafood. There is nothing more I like than a plateful of fried fish or buttery garlic prawns on a bed of crispy salty onions. Thankfully for me, I get to indulge in my love ample of times because I reside in the area of ECR, Chennai.   A View inside the Thoondil Restaurant, Paniyur, ECR PC: Vijaya Shankar O Being in ECR, I was blessed with an abundant bounty of seafood. Thoodil at Akkarai is a unique live seafood restaurant articulating your foodies with a spicy and tasty variety of kinds of seafood. The ambiance of the restaurant is serene mainly courtesy of the lovely green surroundings nested in. In Tamil, the meaning of Thoondil is fishing rod and the USP of the restaurant seems to be its outdoor setting where the entire restaurant is laid out in a large garden. Sturdy furniture fashioned out of heavy rough wood is placed around the garden in various nooks and corners. Few large huts are erected about the garden to house the sitting area. Dining at Thoodil will be a ...

A long and everlasting travel in the cities of North India.

I always had a wish to travel to many cities and exploring their beauty. We, as in my family, were deciding on it for days and chose to travel to the northern part of India. We chose cities like Delhi, Agra, and Gwalior so that we can accompany my sister who was staying at a rented house in Gwalior for her studies. Our trip began soon after we booked a cab from home at 7:00 am to reach the Chennai Airport where we can catch our flight to the City of Delhi. On reaching there, I was astonished to see the so-developed infrastructure of the Chennai airport as most of the times, I have come to the airport for dropping my sis or parents off but haven’t actually got in but this time I went in, actually, I explored in. My parents were waiting and talking about what to do in Delhi where I was just taking pictures inside the airport with my Redmi Note 5 Pro camera and was childishly cheering up my photography skills. After some time, we got into the flight around 9:00 am and it was almost 3 ...

The City of Madurai on the occasion of the Pongal festival.

I usually visit the city of Madurai a lot as it is my mom’s hometown but this particular visit was different as I went on the occasion of Pongal. For covering the occasion, we went one-day before so that we can rest in the city and cover everything. Our Teja express train was puffing up for a start at 6:00 am. The journey in Teja express was different as was a new train launched which is much speedier than the normal train and with that, this was also my first time for me to travel on this train. The train has no sleeping type of seats and only had seaters but it reaches the destination faster than normal trains. On the train, I was having a lot of fun like listening to “on purpose with Jay Shetty’s” podcast on Spotify, reading watchmen comics on Kindle, chit-chatting with my parents, eating the tasty snacks ordered, and seeing the view through the window. Teja Express train waiting at Chennai Central railway station. PC: Vijaya Shankar O After arriving at the Madurai railway station...
